Students Learn Valuable Skills at JA BizTown

In March, the sixth-grade students at Trafford Middle School completed Junior Achievement’s experiential-learning program, JA BizTown. The curriculum, designed to introduce students to fundamental economic and business principles, culminated in a hands-on business simulation held on Friday, March 14.

During the event, students took on various roles within a simulated community and economy, gaining practical experience in financial literacy, teamwork, and workplace skills. Among the concepts covered were managing spending and savings accounts, problem-solving in a business setting, and adhering to professional ethics. The program also gave students opportunities to practice formal business greetings, letter writing, job application procedures, and job interview techniques.

“Students should now better understand how the world works and his or her future role as employer, employee, consumer, saver, and investor,” stated school counselor Mrs. McGraw.
