Team Wins 'Most Green' Award at Engineering Competition

Penn-Trafford High School's Chain Reaction Team earned the "Most Green" award at the annual Chain Reaction Contraption contest, hosted by Westinghouse at the Cranberry Woods Corporate Center on Friday, February 21st. The award recognized the team’s innovative use of recycled and repurposed materials in their Rube Goldberg project.

The competition featured thirteen teams from twelve school districts, each challenged to design a machine that could execute the theme "Make a Sandwich." Penn-Trafford’s team took a creative approach with their project, titled "Sand-Witch". While their entry did not advance to the finals, their environmentally conscious design earned them special recognition.  The team included Evan Sadler, Grant Alexander, Ethan Goldsworthy, Jacob Lang, and Logan Matrisch.

Penn-Trafford’s gifted program students dedicated the academic year to designing, constructing, and refining their Rube Goldberg machines. The competition's overall objective was to complete the task of making a sandwich in twenty steps.
