Penn Middle School raised over $4,000 during its annual ‘Holiday Extravaganza’ in December. From December 9 through December 20, students had an opportunity to purchase raffle tickets to win a variety of prizes which included sports jerseys, uggs, a chance to “pie” a teacher of their choice, and more.
On the afternoon of Friday, December 20, students gathered in the auditorium for the school’s annual holiday assembly. Teachers Steve Weir and Rick Steele planned and hosted a game show-style prize giveaway. Tickets were drawn at random, and students had a chance to compete for a prize or play a game for an even better prize. Proceeds from the event, totaling $4,122, were donated to Landram’s Light and will be used to support cancer patients and other needs of the community.
What is Landram's Light?
Jackie Landram dedicated 16 years to teaching seventh-grade English/Language Arts at Penn Middle School. She courageously battled cancer for seven years but sadly passed away at the age of 44 on January 25, 2022. To honor her memory, her friends and colleagues established the charitable organization Landram's Light with the objective of making a meaningful impact on the local community through charitable initiatives.
