Digging Into Geology

At Trafford Elementary School, Mrs. Weismann’s second-graders completed a STEAM activity to learn about geology.  During the immersive lesson, they built pom-pom volcanos and split open two real geodes. They put together a spinning display case for their favorite rocks, then read an interview with a real-life geologist.

“My students love discovering through experiments and teamwork with their peers,” commented Weismann. “They loved smashing the geodes with a hammer to uncover sparkly crystals inside!”
