Students in the Independent Living class at Penn-Trafford High School learn skills needed in daily life such as managing personal finances, factors affecting housing decisions, and enhancing nutrition and meal planning principles.
In a recent class about automobiles, they covered purchasing, leasing, loans, insurance, and maintenance. Mrs. Siniawski led a discussion on changing a tire and checking fluids. When one of her students, senior Ryan Kerrigan, asked if he could demonstrate changing a tire to the class, Siniawski was keen to make it happen. She commented, “It was an extremely valuable day in learning, as all drivers should be competent in changing a tire.”
