Positive Behavior System Motivates Students

Penn-Trafford SEICA Alexis Martonik has implemented a positive behavior system in her classroom at McCullough Elementary School.  Funded by a DonorsChoose grant, the system rewards students with desk pets and sensory items in exchange for exemplary behavior.  Students can earn rewards for being kind to others, following directions, completing work, and other positive behaviors.

“Students are already motivated to behave better by the promise of a desk pet,” said Miss Martonik. “The system is showing results in student performance, desire to learn, and overall classroom experience.”
