Students Create Picasso-Inspired Sculptures

The 5th-graders of McCullough Elementary School have completed ceramic relief sculptures in Mrs. Gialloreto’s art classes.  The designs were inspired by famed artist Pablo Picasso and contemporary sculptor Kimmy Cantrell.  Students began by sketching out their designs on paper and then were challenged to replicate their designs into clay, applying each facial feature as an additional layer to their sculpture.

“The end result was a design that was creative and unique just like the students,” said Mrs. Gialloreto. “It was fun to see their ideas take shape from sketch to the finished artwork.”
