Mrs. Rizzardi’s French students at Penn-Trafford High School spent March 1st learning about the history and traditions of Mardi Gras, or Fat Tuesday.
In a Carnival-themed classroom, Mrs. Rizzardi shared some cultural traditions of French-speaking areas of the world. The students dined on gumbo, croissants, mini quiches, mini Chicken Cordon Bleu, and crepes. They wore carnival masks which they made the prior day, and also participated in a bowling game called la pétanque (similar to bocce).
