‘Here Comes Santa’ Party Is Huge Success

In a joint effort between the Media Intern class at Penn-Trafford High School and four Seniors as part of a group project, the “Here Comes Santa” party on Wednesday, December 15 was a great success.

The Media Center Interns joined Taylor Jones, Malia Kearns, Kenna Schropp, and Juliana Sgambati to plan and execute the party, which served approximately 250 kids ages pre-K to 5th grade.  Party guests joined high school student volunteers from CAP and NHS to complete crafts such as glass ornaments, thumbprint paintings.  The kids enjoyed decorating cookies which were donated by the high school’s coffee shop, Coffee for a Cause.

There were many holiday games like Reindeer Antler Toss, Pin the Nose On Frosty, and Christmas Bingo.  The kids challenged members of the high school Esports team at Nintendo Switch.  Popcorn was provided to those who wanted to watch Frosty, which ran every 30 minutes. The captains of the State Championship football team signed autographs and posed for photos with the kids.

In addition to the free events, there were various fundraising features including pictures with Santa, a basket raffle, and a concession stand.  All proceeds from the event -- nearly $4,000 – were donated to the Carson's Hope Pediatric Cancer Foundation.
