Miss Zombek, a fifth-grade teacher at Trafford Elementary School took her science class outside for a week during May to focus on nature. She and Mrs. Ferrari, a Student Learning Assistant, had the class working on activities such as identifying types of leaves, observing flowers and animal homes, and a Spring scavenger hunt. To cap off the week, the students worked in groups to build a nest using only materials found in nature.
“The students really enjoyed being outside to explore nature,” commented Mrs. Ferrari. “We couldn’t have asked for better weather, and it was an exciting way to wrap up a challenging school year.”
